The XRS 9970g is the current top of the line windshield mount radar from Cobra. It has a distinctive full color display and plug-in GPS module. The Cobra XRS 9970g is basically the 9965 with the GPS module and few other accessories included. It comes with an easy to remove and updatable GPS module (via USB) with a database full of red light and fixed speed camera locations. There's no need to remove the entire unit to update the database. With the XRS 9970g you just take the GPS module inside and update it using a USB cable. The touch screen is full color and very easy and intuitive to use.

FYI - The Cobra XRS-9970g is a bundled package so it's basically the XRS-9965 but includes a lifetime subscription to the AURA database. What it lacks in radar detections capabilities it more than makes up for with the being able to update via the GPS module.

Some of the reviewers like this model for it's sophistication and high sensitivity while still being easy to setup and use. They also like the features included to reduce false alerts and the ability to set speed alerts if you go over a certain speed.

Other reviewers mention that this is the first Cobra radar detector they have owned in a very long time. While previous models just weren't up to par they feel the XRS 9970g with its full color touch screen display, 360 protection and GPS locator among a host of other features make this detector a great buy.

Although some have mentioned they wish it had a little longer power cable and a adjustable tilt mounting bracket.
